Vegetarian Weight Loss Diet

vegetarian-weight-loss-dietWith so many diet pills and “miracle shakes” on the market its alarming to see just how many people are putting their health on the line just to lose a couple of pounds. A vegetarian weight loss diet is one of the few healthy ways to lose weight. What got me into it was just seeing my vegetarian friends and noticing a common trend – none of them were FAT. I challenge you to find an overweight vegetarian.

So, why is a vegetarian weight loss diet so effective? The first and most obvious reason is the sheer amount of calories you cut out of your diet. Meat also has an immense amount of hidden fat and the high calorie ratio of meat makes it one of the biggest reasons why heavy meat eaters have weight issues.

A big problem for meat eaters is the fact that they tend to be very bad eaters in general. They tend to load up on meat and never get the stuff they really need – which is vegetables. This is another important reason why a vegetarian weight loss diet is so effective. When you eat only the stuff your body actually needs, then losing weight is a non-issue. Meat places a heavy burden on your digestive system and digesting a piece of animal protein can be a very long and cumbersome task. Hence the poor digestion and lack of energy.

Vegetables are high in fibre, natural sugars, minerals and above all it’s a water rich food group. Vegetables get digested with ease, it rarely gets turned into excess fat. Meats tends to clog your system while veggies cleanse your system. The biggest culprit is processed meats and the high amounts of preservatives and additives are nothing but toxins.

A vegetarian weight loss diet is naturally low in fat and whilst meat eaters will argue that you “need the protein” the truth is that you don’t. In reality the quality of protein in meat is incredibly poor and with animals being fed all sorts of hormones these days the quality is not getting any better. In fact, chicken is some of the worse meat you can eat simply because it can mess with your hormones – and as we know hormones play an important role in maintaining a healthy weight.

One of the best reasons for at least trying a vegetarian weight loss diet is simply because you will never go hungry. There is just so many foods you can eat and y can eat so much of it without gaining weight. This is not like those typical starvation diets. Its based on health and if you have any doubt, just look t vegetarians. They radiate health!
